Literacy Dig!!!

This week we started our Literacy Dig projects.  It is a very interesting project! For our group, we decided to start digging for literacy at a place called Campus Candy.  It is a candy shop right next to campus.  It's a perfect place for learning, beyond it just being a place children love to be!  The students would have to read all the different candies, all the rules, prices, as well as know how to weigh and read ounces and pounds, which also helps them develop their math skills along with literacy skills.  It was also a very bright and inviting place, where children (and adults :] ) will feel very happy and comfortable.

I also started my field experience! It is very fun so far and the teacher I am working with is great :)

First Blog Ever!!!

Well, here is my very first Blog!  I am very excited, I have never blogged before, and I am especially excited to be blogging about children's literacy.  I will be updating every week on a case study of a student I will be working with and his/her progress in reading.  I am ecstatic to get started and work with this student!  Education is one of my biggest passions and I am thrilled to be able to share my experience with this student to others.
